the mission

“Let’s Talk About It” was born from our experiences with continuing education about working with trans, gender-expansive, and queer clients. As affirming clinicians, we often left these spaces wanting more.

We craved a space that would go further than foundations. While we believe the basics of understanding identity and using affirming language are crucial, they are just that - the basics; the 101 course on queerness. We believe that affirming is just the beginning. We want to create a space for clinicians of all levels of experience with queer folks (newbies included!) to come together to grow beyond affirmation and into proficiency.

That’s where Let’s Talk About It comes in. These sessions will offer leadership by people who specialize in LGBTQIA2S+ clinical care and lived experience within these communities. Break-out groups and small groups will offer appropriate education for a variety of levels of familiarity with queer and trans clients, ranging from novice to advanced practice, so that each participant receives the education they need without feeling tethered to repetitive content. The goal is to serve our clients, ourselves, and our communities by deepening our awareness of issues and strengths within these communities and how to address them in the therapeutic relationship.
